Even if less sunny seasons arrive, do not forget to keep using sunscreen. Why? Because, if we want to keep our skin healthy and without the dreaded spots that, in the least of cases, will only be an aesthetic problem, we must protect our skin all year round.
We love the summer, enjoy long weekends, bridges and social gatherings in open spaces in which to relax outdoors and show off a dark skin. Living in a sunny country, whether near the sea or the mountain, helps make it so. For this reason, we must be cautious and always take into account the protection of our skin.
How does the sun affect your skin?
According to the American Cancer Society, we have to differentiate and be careful with two types of solar radiation:
- UVA rays: are the cause of aging the skin cells and causing damage to cellular DNA. These rays are associated with long-term skin damage and wrinkles and are also considered to play a role in some types of cancer.
- UVB rays have a little more energy than UVA rays. These rays can directly damage the DNA of skin cells and are responsible for causing skin burns.
What does the sun bring us?
Not everything is negative. Among other things, the sun can bring us happiness, energy, and benefits for our body, such as vitamin D. This occurs when our skin is exposed to sunlight and, therefore, we also know it as the “sunlight” vitamin, allied in the absorption of calcium and phosphorus, which is why it is very important for the health of our bones.
In addition, another of the peculiarities of this vitamin is that it influences our mood since it intervenes in the synthesis of the neurotransmitters of dopamine and serotonin, whose low levels are linked to depression.
Incorporate vitamin D into your diet
The sun is not the only way by which we can acquire vitamin D. We can also get it by incorporating into our diet foods such as bluefish, dairy products, cereals, mushrooms or eggs, among the most prominent.
It is then about finding the balance. Knowing how to enjoy the sun without being harmed depends on you. Do not let your rays deteriorate the collagen and elastin of your skin or that cause you spots or wrinkles. Therefore, we must use a cream with sunscreen every day. If you already have spots on the skin but want to prevent them from accenting, you can apply DSP-Cover Stick FPS with 50+ protection. So, to keep your skin healthy and beautiful, remember: always have a sunscreen around and wear a radiant skin!
